World Championships 2013: Cities bidding for a Canadian bid; 2013 World Championships: Cities bid for a canadian

According to an article by Beverly Smith of the Globe and Mail, Skate Canada is expected to announce soon his city for a bid to get the world championships 2013.

The 4 cities in contention are: Ottawa (Ontario), Winnipeg (Manitoba), London (Ontario), Quebec.

Ottawa hosted Skate Canada 2008. Winnipeg won the national championships in 2001 (in an arena that no longer exists today). London has hosted the championships in January. Quebec hosted Skate Canada 2007.

Canadian cities who received the world championships in the past:
2006 Calgary, Alberta
2001 Vancouver, British Columbia
1996 Edmonton, Alberta
1990 Halifax, Nova Scotia
1984 Ottawa, Ontario
1978 Ottawa, Ontario
1972 Calgary, Alberta
1960 Vancouver, British Columbia
1932 Montreal, Quebec

Of the four Canadian cities in contention, I must confess that I have a big preference for Quebec ...

The world championships will be held in Tokyo (Japan) in 2011, Nice (France) in 2012.
